Emergency Management Plan Rule Revisions

The State Board of Education has passed changes to Ohio’s School Emergency Management Plan Rule. The P-20 Center for Safety and Security, Ohio Homeland Security, Ohio Emergency Management Agency and the State Fire Marshal’s Office proposed the changes after extensive review and input.

 

The rule changes seek to both improve school emergency preparedness and reduce difficulty for school administrators in complying with state requirements. The revised language simplifies reporting requirements of the rule and provides better support for schools to apply their experience from their required annual emergency management test to improve their plans.
