Due to the global COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic, the Ohio School Safety Center has made the difficult but necessary decision to cancel this year’s Ohio School Safety Summit, scheduled for June 10-12, at the Greater Columbus Convention Center.
Protecting the health, safety, and well-being of our attendees is our number one priority. We have continued to monitor guidance from Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, Ohio Department of Health Director Dr. Amy Acton, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and we feel it is our duty to help continue to flatten the curve. While the conference is still a few months out, there is a lot of planning that would need to take place between now and then and we feel it would be best to cancel now to minimize the impact on our stakeholders.
We are however looking at starting the planning process for the 2021 Summit and will be working on coordinating regional trainings and events that allow us to bring continuing education, training, and expertise to Ohio’s schools. More information will be provided on those events this fall.
We look forward to our continued partnership in improving the safety and wellbeing of Ohio’s students and educators. If you have any questions, please reach out to OhioSchoolSafetySummit@dps.ohio.gov.
