The Ohio School Safety Center (OSSC) and the Ohio Emergency Management Agency (OEMA) are partnering together for a virtual, 3-part series on School Emergency Management Tests & Exercises.
It is often said ‘Practice makes perfect’. The best way schools can help prepare students and staff for an emergency, is by practicing the procedures outlined in their school’s emergency operations plan (school safety plan).
This webinar will be the first, of a 3-part series. As a school administrator, school resource officer, or school safety plan coordinator, it is important that you fully understand what an Emergency Management Test is and how to successfully prepare for one.
The first webinar of the series will be an Introduction to Emergency Management Tests & Exercises for Pre-K-12 Schools. In this training, you will learn about:
- School emergency management test (EMT) requirements per ORC 3313.536
- Basic emergency management terminology as it relates to schools
- Differences between a tabletop, functional, and full-scale exercise
- Finding resources and training opportunities for emergency management
This 2-hour, instructor-led course will offer opportunities for discussion and Q&A immediately following the training. To better prepare for the Q&A session, please submit your questions in advance during registration.
